Tell us about your relative or friend living in the US and how they have become more Irish since moving abroad OR simply tell us why they deserve to wake up to a St Patrick’s Day Breakfast Hamper on Paddy’s Day.

To celebrate St Patrick’s Day this year, we at GiftsDirect.com want to find our how some of the Irish living in the US have become more Irish since moving abroad (ie. Do they have an Irish flag in their home or perhaps they go all out to celebrate Paddy’s Day?).

OR simply tell us why they deserve to win a hamper packed full of goodies to make the perfect traditional Irish fry-up (for instance, have they had to emigrate and have they made a great success of their new life over in the US?).

This will be a real surprise and treat for the nominated person and, while enjoying their traditional Irish fry-up, they’ll no doubt toast you with a cup of Barry’s Tea!

Valentines Poetry Competition Launches on our
Facebook Page!
WIN a Romantic Break in the 5-Star Cliff House

January 20^th 2012

To celebrate Valentine's Day, we are launching a nationwide poetry competition on our facebook page Click Here. 

Free to enter, and open to anyone aged 18 or over, the subject is 'love' and the maximum number of lines is 40. Judged by acclaimed Irish poet, Leanne O'Sullivan, the competition is now open for submissions and closes 14th February. For inspiration, start by reading of one of Yeat's poems and think of his unrequited love for Maud Gonne!

 But we don't even need to reach into the past for creative encouragement - our own recently elected President, Michael D Higgins, champions cultural and literary life in a bid to overcome our challenges. He says, "Our successes, after all, in the eyes of so many in the world have been in our literature, art, drama and song and in how that drama and song have helped us cope with adversity, soothed the very pain which they describe so well, and opened the space for new possibilities." So what better time than now to get pen to paper...or, more aptly, fingertips to keyboard! Visit our Facebook page for more updates!

Entry Details

Competition opens 1st February, with closing date for receipt of entries 14 February 2012 at 5:30pm Maximum of 40 lines per poem (no minimum) The name of author will appear alongside poem and will be shown on the GiftsDirect.com facebook page unless the author changes their privacy settings on Facebook The theme of the poetry competition is ‘love’. Entries must be in English and no obscenities permitted The competition is open to all those aged 18 and over There is no fee to enter No corrections can appear after submission onto facebook Entries must never have been published (either self-published or published), including print, online or broadcast and must be original (ie. Not plagiarised from another source) Entries are unlimited – entrants can enter as many times as they like (but not the same poem each time) The judge’s decision is final and no individual correspondence can be entered into. Worldwide copyright of each entry remains with the author, however, by entering the competition, grant GiftsDirect.com the right to publish and/or broadcast the poem for 14 months from February 2012.

Prize

1st: A two-night break for two, including full Irish breakfast, in The Cliff House Hotel (Cliff Terrace Suite with seaview overlooking Ardmore Bay). This prize includes dinner on one night in the Michelin Star restaurant on site, called The House. The prize must be redeemed Sun - Thurs during February or March 2012. Prize Winner The winner will be notified and their poem highlighted via our facebook page by Friday 17th February 2012. The winner will be asked to provide a biography and photograph for our FB page and may be asked to attend our Dublin office for a photograph to be taken with the CEO.
